An account is not required to join a class, however, if you plan to take multiple classes, it is highly recommended to create a basic, free account. You can sign up for an account at zoom.us/signup.
The easiest way to join a meeting is by directly clicking the link sent to you via email by CLR. NOTE: Please be sure to check your spam/junk folders, as our emails have ended up in those folders for some members. If you find the email in your spam/junk folder, move the message to your inbox. Doing this will allow your email program to identify emails from CLR as acceptable recipients and will no longer put our emails in your spam/junk folders.
If the link does not work, you can copy the link and paste it into a web browser search engine such as Google Chrome, Internet Explorer, Mozilla Firefox, Safari, etc. You can also try joining the Zoom link manually using the Meeting ID and Password. If you need instructions on this process, please contact the CLR office at (815) 921-3931 and we will get step-by-step instructions to you.
Hybrid/Zoom Room Classes
A hybrid class takes place both in-person and online simultaneously. A "Zoom Room" is a class that is online, but has a classroom designated at the Bell School Road Center for online group viewing.
One week prior to the hybrid class, participants will receive an email from the CLR office inquiring whether each participant plans to attend class in-person or online. Those attending the class in-person will arrive at the location of the class on the scheduled date and time. Those attending the class online will join the class virtually from home on the scheduled date and time. Whether a participant chooses to attend the class in-person or online, an email reminder containing the Zoom link to the class will be sent to all, registered participants.
One day prior to the class, all registered students will receive an email reminder with the class details. The Zoom link for the class will be included in that email for those who cannot attend in-person. On the day of the class, you can use the Zoom information from that email sent the day before to access the class online.
Yes! Online participants can use the chat box, as well as the 'Raise Hand' option from the 'Reactions' tab in Zoom to ask questions. There will be a CLR class facilitator online to assist in getting those questions to the class instructor.
There will be a class facilitator to assist the instructor and in-person participants as needed. In addition, there will be a person in the room who is operating the camera and A/V equipment that is necessary for the online participants to be included. This person may need to move around the room at times to adjust the camera, microphone, lighting, etc. Participants on Zoom are considered participants in the class. They will be able to ask questions and make comments, as if they were in the classroom.
Yes! Hybrid classes will be recorded and available for viewing after the class has ended. You can request the recording by contacting the CLR office at (815) 921-3931. You must be a registered participant of the class to receive the recording. NOTE: Class recordings typically take 3-5 days to edit and process. Registered participants that request a link to the recording will have two weeks to watch it. After those two weeks have elapsed, the link will expire and you will no longer be able to view it.
A "Zoom Room" will be made available to participants without online access at home for a limited number of spring classes. For these Zoom classes, participants will have the option of coming to the Bell School Road Center for group online viewing.
Registering for a "Zoom Room" class is the same as registering for any other class. Once you receive the CLR spring catalog in the mail, you will find a registration form inside. Select your desired classes, fill out the form, attach payment in the form of a check and mail to: Rock Valley College – CLR, 3301 N Mulford Rd, Rockford, IL 61114.
You can also bring your registration form with check or cash payment to the CLR office (3350 N Bell School Rd, Rockford, IL 61114) during our normal business hours or place it in the black drop box located outside the west entrance. All forms are also available in the CLR office.
On the scheduled date of the "Zoom Room" class, come to the Bell School Road Center where a classroom will be available for online group viewing.
NOTE: You do not need to let the office know in advance that you are planning to attend the Zoom Room option.
When you arrive at the Bell School Road Center for your "Zoom Room" class, a classroom will be designated for group online viewing. A CLR facilitator will connect to the online class using the overhead projector in the classroom. Participants will be able to view the online class on a big screen in the comfort of a CLR classroom.
